Walking for Weight Loss
Get into the habit of doing a daily walk and you’ll be amazed at how good you feel. Not only that, you’ll benefit from the best
exercise for weight loss.
Why is walking better than running?

Both activities are great for your cardiovascular health and fitness but if you want to lose weight in the process, we recommend walking over running and indeed even over swimming or the gym, purely because it’s least likely to give you a ravenous appetite.
Put simply, with intense physical activity you tend to eat three times more calories than if you were to go for a brisk walk. So, the general rule of thumb is that the harder you train, the hungrier you get, the more you crave sugars, the less weight you lose
Makes sense doesn’t it?
Waking is good for the following:
- Burning calories
- Losing weight
- Reducing blood cholesterol
- Lowering blood pressure
- Increasing fitness
- Boosting bone strength
- Alleviating stress
And if you are walking for weight loss make sure you try to get in 10,000 steps a day to speed up the process. This doesn’t have to be done all at once. In fact, it’s better if you break it up throughout the day to keep your metabolism active.
Handy hint: wear a pedometer to keep track of your steps. You’ll be surprised how easy it is to do 10,000 steps a day without the need for strenuous activity.Ideally, a 30 minute brisk walk including a few hills will really get your heart rate up and tone your butt and thighs.
And if you can vary the intensity and increase the length of your walks, then even better.
Happy walking.
