The Best Exercise to Lose Weight Fast

Walking is the best exercise to lose weight fast.  Why?  Because as hunter-gatherers we were built for walking.  It’s what we do best and it’s by far the best exercise to lose weight fast.

Walking sends the right message to the body about losing fat and holding muscle.  Quite often people ask us about swimming, running and cycling for weight loss but nothing beats 10,000-15,000 steps a day through walking.

The Best Exercise to Lose Weight Fast

Actually, swimming is not that great for losing weight.  It’s not weight-bearing and it simply doesn’t produce a good weight loss response.  Running is a little better but a good, long jog can increase your appetite to such an extent that you might eat more than you can burn off.  Similarly, doing a manic workout at the gym will also increase your hunger significantly ultimately hampering your weight loss efforts.

Now, that’s not to say all these exercises aren’t good for you in general.  Swimming, cycling, running and circuit training are all excellent for good health and well being but think twice about doing them if you are serious about weight loss.

So, now that we have established that walking is the best exercise to lose weight fast, when is the best time to do it?

We recommend walking first ting in the morning, before breakfast.  Due to your lower blood sugar you will tap into your fat stores sooner.

Walking first thing in the morning is also excellent for creating a positive and productive mood.  You will benefit from the endorphin release and you will find you cope better with life’s little setbacks if you can manage to get your daily work in.  So there is a double benefit from walking in that you burn more fat and feel better for the rest of the day.  Plus, if you walk first thing you never miss out if the day unexpectedly gets busy later on.

However, if mornings are out for you then a walk during the day is the next best option. If possible wait two hours after a meal so your blood sugars are low enough to burn fat stores.
