Protein Bars

We advocate having 6 small protein based meals daily to keep your metabolism high and ward off hunger pangs, however, sometimes it’s hard to find the time to prepare all these meals which is when protein bars come in handy.

Now we are not saying have a protein bar every time you need a snack because fresh food is always preferable over processed food, however, protein bars are useful when you’re on the run and need something to get you through until lunch or dinner.

But not all protein bars are created equal so choose carefully and go for quality over price.  Many are high in sugar and some are high in fat so look for those bars that that display the following benefits on their labels:

   Low in carbohydrates
   Low in sugar
   Low in fat
   High in fibre
   High in protein

If you can track down packs of protein bars that tick all these boxes then you’ve found an excellent substitute for fresh food and a good source of protein.

The reason we suggest finding protein bars that are low in carbohydrates is that this feature is best for weight loss.  Low carb, high protein bars will keep your hunger at bay and help keep your metabolic rate high which is good for weight loss and ultimately ideal as a weight management tool.

Just don’t make the mistake of eating too many of these delicious sweet treats throughout the day especially if you’re not very active. Think of these weight loss supplements as a snack substitutes but try to vary your diet with fresh food as much as possible.
